FAQS About Therapy with Me
-
My current fee is $180 per 50-minute session for individual therapy. I offer limited sliding scale reduced fee spots, which we can discuss if you are not able to pay my full fee.
-
I accept Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross California, Blue Shield of California, Magellan, and Quest Behavioral Health through the billing service Headway. If you have another insurance plan, most PPO plans will reimburse members for mental health services. I will produce an automated Superbill on a monthly basis upon request. You will be responsible for paying the full fee for sessions upfront and submitting the paperwork that I provide you. Please call your insurance provider before we meet to verify what their reimbursement policy is for "out-of-network" providers and to find out where to send the form.
-
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please inform me at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. If you do not provide me with at least 24 hours notice of cancellation or rescheduling, you will be charged the full fee. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time. If you are more than 14 minutes late, it will be considered a no-show.
If you are using insurance, please be aware that your insurance company will not pay for missed or canceled sessions. Accordingly, you will be responsible for covering the cost of missed sessions and sessions canceled without providing at least 24 hours advance notice.

In the first session, we will review aspects of the informed consent paperwork and you will have time to ask any questions. Additionally, I will provide space and time for you to tell your story, past and present, and explore the current challenges you are experiencing.

I meet weekly with all clients at the start of therapy. Consistent weekly attendance can greatly contribute to a successful therapy outcome. As you make progress towards your goals, we can discuss the possibility of changing the frequency of therapy, if you desire.

The duration of therapy depends on each person’s needs. Ideally, therapy will end after the goals that we developed at the beginning of therapy have been achieved and/or the issues that brought you to therapy have been resolved or have become more manageable without therapeutic intervention. However, there are occasions when treatment may end before these accomplishments. These include but are not limited to: (1) you decide you no longer want to participate in therapy, (2) you are default in payment, and (3) infrequent session attendance.
